One of the things we enjoy most about the trips we take are the photos we take that capture our adventures and create memories that will last forever! If, like us, you want to be able to take truly unique travel photos, check out our tips below!
SEARCH YOUR DESTINATION
The first thing to do is get ready! Before your trip, research your destination online and get to know the main tourist attractions, the places you want to know, the most photogenic nooks and hidden treasures that few people have discovered yet. From this research, create your itinerary so you don't miss the opportunity to capture photos to remember your trip later!
INSPIRE WITH BLOGGERS AND INSTAGRAMMERS
Bloggers and travel instagrammers can be your biggest source of inspiration! Now that you know the places you want to visit and photograph, search for them on Instagram or your favorite travel blogs (like ours!) And get inspired by the photos we took.
PREPARE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC MACHINE
Whether you are carrying an XPTO camera or simply using your mobile phone to take pictures of your next adventure, you have to prepare it also before you travel. In addition to the basic things like making sure you have a battery / charger and space to take photos, also think about the type of photos you are taking and whether you need media such as waterproof covers, a tripod, selfie stick, or others. The more prepared you are, the better you will be able to take your dream photos!
RETHINK THE CLICH PHOTOGRAPHS
When we visit very touristic places, it is easy to end up taking pictures that are the same as so many others. It may seem impossible to take truly unique photographs in places like Paris, Rome, New York or London. But it's not true! Even in the most visited places, just rethink the most typical photographs of those places to achieve something truly special - change the angle or perspective, play with the light! The possibilities are endless.
LEARN SOME SIMPLE PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS
Finally, take some time before you travel to research some simple photography techniques. Learning about things like composition, framing, rule of thirds, perspective, scale and shapes can quickly improve your photos. And nowadays it is very easy to find this information on the internet!
WAKE UP EARLY
In the most touristy places, there is no better tip than this: be the first to get to a place or the last to leave. This is the only way to get stunning photos with no strangers in the background or even glued to your side! (Not to mention that that first light of morning makes the photos even more beautiful!) That's how we got our photos at the Taj Mahal!
IN THE END, TELL THE TRAVEL HISTORY
At the end of a dream trip and getting spectacular photos, don't leave them in a folder on your computer or in your phone gallery. Create your digital album or print your photos, tell the story of your trip through the photos you have taken and share them with friends in an evening, take them to parents and grandparents to see and tell them all the adventures. Don't risk seeing them lost forever, as there is nothing better than creating, storing and sharing memories!
